Introduction of Xishuangbanna Tea Production Area
It is customary to divide the tea producing areas of Xishuangbanna into Jiangbei and Jiangnan. Yiwu was the center of tea production in the north of the Lancang River, and Fohai (now Menghai County) was the center of tea production in the south of the Lancang River.
There are six major tea mountains in Jiangbei and Jiangnan:In Hebei there are Yibang Ancient Tea Mountain, Youle Ancient Tea Mountain, Mansa Ancient Tea Mountain, Mangzhi Ancient Tea Mountain, Manzhuan Ancient Tea Mountain and Gedeng Ancient Tea Mountain; in Jiangnan there are Nannuo Tea Mountain, Mengsong Tea Mountain, Menghai Tea Mountain, Eight Great Tea Mountains and Nanqiao Tea Mountain, Jingmai Tea Mountain.
The major tea hills mentioned above are located in a mix of tropical and subtropical locations. The annual average temperature is maintained at about 18 degrees Celsius, the rainfall is above 1200mm, the vegetation in the mountains is dense, the winter is warm in the winter and the summer is cool, the soil is mainly red brick soil and red laterite, the soil layer is deep and the soil is fertile. Such a natural ecological environment has created favorable conditions for the cultivation of Yunnan Daye Pu’er tea, and also laid the foundation for the formation of the quality of Pu’er tea.
Characteristics of Yunnan Pu’er Tea
Pu-erh tea is made from fresh leaves of Yunnan big-leaf species and green tea as raw materials, through the processes of fixing, rolling and drying. Pu-erh tea has distinct personality and special effects, and has many characteristics that cannot be replaced by other teas.
1. Different shapes
Pu-erh tea can be divided into two categories: loose tea and compressed tea. Loose tea sticks are thick and fat, dark or maroon in color, mellow and sweet in taste, and have a unique old fragrance; compressed tea comes in many forms, including Tuocha and Qizi cake. Tea, square tea, brick tea, column tea, big round cake tea, etc.
2. Long-lasting fragrance
Pu-erh tea has a process of esterification and post-ripening, which will produce a unique old aroma after long-term storage. With the change of time, different aroma types such as jujube incense, lotus incense, ginseng incense and camphor incense can be produced.
3. Drinking at will
Pu’er tea can be brewed or boiled, and even raw Pu’er tea and cooked Pu’er tea can be mixed and quoted. Pu’er tea can also be used to brew butter tea, salt tea, etc.
4. Health care
Pu-erh tea has always been regarded as a kind of tea with health care functions, which has various effects and functions such as lowering blood lipids, losing weight, inhibiting bacteria, helping digestion, warming the stomach, promoting body fluid and quenching thirst.
