Characteristics of Anxi Tieguanyin Tea
Tieguanyin is both the name of the tea tree and the name of the tea product. It originated in Xiping Township, Anxi, and has a planting history of more than 200 years. Anxi Tieguanyin has a short growth period and low yield. In addition, the tea tree is small, with hard branches, dark leaves, thick leaves, and fat buds. It has the characteristics of “hardness” and “solidity”, so it is named “Tieguanyin”. Hence the name.
Tieguanyin tea trees are picked four times a year. Spring tea is before the beginning of summer, summer tea is after the summer solstice, summer tea is picked after the great heat, and autumn tea is picked before Bailu. Among them, the quality of spring tea is the best.
